Clarity in a Difficult Moment: Admissions at Youth Home

Seeking care for your child can feel overwhelming. Our admissions process is built to be clear and compassionate for parents — we explain the timeline, discuss coverage, and manage the details so you can focus on your child. We’ll also coordinate with caseworkers and referral partners.

How It Works

01

Submit an application or referral

Complete our online application (for families) or referral (for providers/caseworkers) to start the process.

02

Records review + symptom history call

Our admissions/clinical team reviews records and connects by phone to gather a brief symptom and history overview and answer immediate questions.

03

Referral completion (for professionals)

If you’re a provider, caseworker or school, we’ll confirm any outstanding documentation needed to complete the professional referral.

04

Insurance & funding verification

We verify coverage and benefits — including TRICARE® and other accepted plans — and discuss any authorizations or out-of-pocket considerations.

05

Clinical decision

Clinicians determine clinical fit and level of care (e.g., PRTF, QRTP, outpatient) and share next steps and timing.

06

Admission scheduling & intake assessment

If approved, we schedule the admission date, complete the intake assessment, and provide travel logistics/support (what to bring, arrival time, directions, and contact info).

Not sure where to start?

Contact Admissions — we’ll clarify which form you need and what records help us move quickly.

Common Questions About the Admissions Process

  • How long does the admissions process take?

Timelines may vary depending on the information provided and availability. We begin reviewing applications as soon as possible after submission. When all parties are responsive, admissions can occur within a week.

  • What kind of support will I have during this process?

Our admissions team is available to answer questions and guide you through each step. In many cases, families work with the same contact throughout.

Requirements for Admission

Your Child Must be 12–17 Years Old

We are approved by the governing bodies to offer treatment to adolescents ages 12–17. If your child is going to turn 12 within the next month, contact us about applying for treatment at 1-800-728-6452.

Currently Be Enrolled in an Educational Program

Your child must be currently enrolled in Public School, Private School, Day Treatment, or a Vocational Program. We will continue their education throughout treatment at our on-campus Siebert School.

Have No History of Perpetrating Sexual Abuse or Assault

Youth Home does not accept youth who have committed acts of sexual abuse or assault, or youth who have a history of violence toward other youth or caregivers. As a trauma-informed facility, we prioritize a safe environment for all.

Have Recent Attempts at Outpatient Therapy, School-Based Services, or Acute Visits

To be approved for treatment by your insurance company, you must be able to demonstrate that your child has a need for a more intensive treatment program. This is shown through documentation of recent outpatient therapy, school-based services, or acute visits.

What if I’m not sure this is the right step?

You don’t have to be certain to reach out to Youth Home. We believe in matching care to need, and if Youth Home isn’t the right fit, we’ll recommend providers who may be.

What We Are Not

Quick drop-in

We take care to determine the clinical fit of each program participant. We cannot accept drop-in admissions.

24-hour admission time

Admissions typically occur during standard office hours (Monday-Friday from 8:30-4:30) to ensure the most seamless integration.

Crisis center or acute facility

We are not a stabilization facility, and those in active crisis should contact acute providers for treatment.

Youth Home Team

Need Help Now?

Our team is available to provide information, answer questions, or help you begin the process. Clients who have succeeded at Youth Home might have unfairly or incorrectly been labeled elsewhere as highly emotional, a burden, problematic, angry, or very sad/depressed. We can help.

To assist with insurance approval and enrollment, we’ll need a letter of recommendation from a qualified provider and documentation of attempted family-centered treatment elsewhere.
